Took a quick weekend trip to the Mammoth lakes/Eastern Sierras, what a great time of year to be up there! We started the trip Friday, driving from LA to the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest. These trees are incredible, can't believe it took me so many years to visit.
A friend told me about a road from the Bristlecones down to Bishop, so I asked around once we got up there. Silver canyon is a nicely maintained access road that winds down to Bishop. Great views, and the road is easy. There are a few tight switchbacks, with plenty of room for 2 pt turns.
Next stop..... Mammoth Lakes!! I really miss this place, and I've never been this time of year. The leaves, cool temps, ahhh. Love it.
Saturday, we left Mammoth & headed north to Mono lake. I've been a few times, but my guest hadn't. Great light for some nice pics.
Next... Bodie. One of the coolest places, love coming back here.
Today was the day to come home, no matter how bad I wanted to stay. We at least stopped by Whitney Portals and took a quick cruise through the Alabama Hills.
I saw several SMB's, and even a really nice Syncro. Just a normal weekend on the 395!!
