Quiet tire replacement for Toyo Open County M/T recommendation needed

Are you sure it's a 295/75-17?

I see the Falken Wild Peak in an E rated tire in 295/70-17, and after looking at them at Discount Tire, it would be my choice. Wish they built them in an E rated 35/12.5-17.

Just my experience.....(my .02) my work truck is a 09 4x4 ccsb f-150. I was running the km2's and we just put on a set of falken's in 285-70-17. I would NOT buy them for my own truck. tread squirm was the worst of any tire up to now that i have run. It lasted over 1500 miles. and the center rib of the tire is already showing wear with less than 8k miles on them. we religously rotate out tires @ 5k mile intervals. my truck is running about 300-400# in the bed under a fiberglass cap 100% of the time.
my coworker also hated the tread squirm. felt like you were driving on ice on the highway and it got interesting in high winds. it was like driving a car with a bad stearing box. the tires are ok now.
my coworker's tires were BALD after a little over 22k miles (he is a little bit harder on tires but not by much)
I liked the tread pattern on them but will not run them again.

my 2010 dodge is running E 285-70-17 toyo at and they are rated at 3750# per tire. which is over 555# higher per tire then the stock 265-70-17 michelin.

I finally wound up purchasing a set of the new Toyo AT II 's in size LT285/75R17. They are physically the same size as the MT's that they replaced but they are MUCH quieter, the ride is better and the mileage is about 1 MPG better. All in all, I am very happy with these.

For anyones future reference. I run 37" Goodyear MTR Kevlars (load range c, not sure if thats beef enough for you) and they are the quietest mud terrain I have ever used. Much quieter than the Toyos I used to run. They work well in just about anything.

Happy trails.

Thanks nothing worse than comming across a thread like this and the op never say what he got or how he they like them. Happy Thanksgiving.

Just for future reference, I have been running a set of the Cooper S/T Maxx on the 'burb, and really like them. They are quiet, wearing great, and a good aggressive A/T... And they are E rated which is nice for the full size guys who load their rigs and/or tow, etc.

For others with the same question I have run toyo a/t, Yokohama geo a/t and now toyo m/t. For bullet proof I would say toyo m/t. Definitely louder than the a/t but I have about 10k on them now with about half of that off road. Currently pounding them in Baja with about 28psi in them, truck is about 8300 pounds. My toyo a/t lasted 55k mostly on road, and the yokohamas are about the same, except a weaker sidewall. You cannot go wrong with any of them on a full size diesel. Check out DTX. No one will put their tires through more torture than those guys... Those are the tires of choice

I wound up going with Toyo AT II's and wow, what a difference. Almost silent with better mileage to boot.

Highly recommended.

I destroyed my Toyo MT on I-5 soutbound. Picked up a big piece of road debris. In maybe 100' at freeway speed the weight of my Dodge plus camper shredded the MT. Had to buy two as they had 12K on them. Tough *** tire but it does happen. $600 day. Ouch!!
