Ram 2500 6.4 Hemi Fuel Range / Tank Size Question

So an interesting observation, wondering if anybody has run into this. As far as I know the full size Dodge 2500's w/6.4 Hemi come with a 31 gal tank, I get pretty good mileage in the 16-18 mpg range but I'm on Empty in the red at about 26 gallons! Does dodge have a 5 gallon reserve on these things (31-26 = 5)!? If so, I'm good for another 50 miles easy when it's indicating dang near empty, but seems a bit silly...with that said, I don't wanna push it and find out the hard way.

I’d imagine you’d want to keep at least 2-3 gallons in there to make sure to keep the pump submerged and cool. So I’d say 20-30 mile range after you hit E.

I've always been able to put in about what the tank holds on all my previous vehicles - 1/2 to 1 gallon.

I have the optional 32 gallon tank in our 2014 Ram 1500 and we average about the same as you, only takes 26-27 per fill up, even when it says 0 miles to go on the computer.

My 2021 Power Wagon has the 31 gallon tank and when reading empty will only fill up 26 gallons. I assumed it had a 5-gallon reserve. I'd love to retrofit the 50-gallon OEM tank on my truck.

Cheers

i have a 2020 Power Wagon and I have put in close to 29 gallons. I was nervous because the DTE clicks off after a certain point. I have seen where other PW owners have reported to have put in almost 31 gallons without running out and I have also read where others have run out and put in less than 31 gallons so the only way to really know is to run it low and carry a gas can and stick close to a gas station and see how it all plays out.
