Ram 2500, snow chains and 35,s

Hey All.
I have a 2015 ram 2500 with Thuren 1.5” springs in front, stock rear springs and fox 2.0 shocks all the way around.

I’m running 285/75/17 cooper at3’s and I can chain up all 4 tires and still have plenty of space in the fender wells.

The coopers have lasted nearly 65k miles but they were not great in the snow so I’m switching to a set of 35x12.5/17 falken wildpeak Ats.

I also am upgrading from my stock tradesman Steelies to a set of AEV Salta wheels.

CJC Ofroad says the tire combo will easily fit my truck. But I’m wondering now if I will be able to fit chains on the front. Anyone have experience with this combo?

if the chains don’t fit I’ll go back down to 285/75/17’s.

Thanks for the help.

I never ran chains but I did run 35x12.50's with similar specs to the AEV wheels. I know I didn't have room for chains.

I had similar lift (less than 2" from stock), extended control arms and a ranch hand bumper and I could touch both the cab and bumper corner (MUCH more bumper clearance than stock!) with the tire depending on flex and steering angle...

Thanks. I have a TJM winch bumper on the front so I think clearance there won’t be an issue. It’d be at the cab. Your experience is that there won’t be enough clearance at the cab?

Do u know if the AEV wheels offset is similar to stock? If I go down to 285’s I’m hoping it won’t look funny. I like the way the 285’s look with the stock offset.

I think the offset is different on the Salta and the Katla (or whatever they're called) so it depends on which one you're getting. One is close to stock and the other sticks out more...

Thanks for the info. I’m getting the salta wheels. As long as they don’t suck the tires deeper into the fenderwells it’ll be fine.

I have 295/70R18s (34.XX) on Method 305 NVs, which are similar in back spacing to the AEV wheels, and there is no way I could run chains. Maybe if the bottom of the fender got trimmed, along with the pinch weld, but it rubs a smidge at full compression with the wheel partially turned. Add chains and it would for sure do some damage.

Also forgot, I "clearanced" the bottom of my fenders too. Kinda like a "NorCal mod." You can look that up on youtube. Chevy thing but same idea...

Went with 35x12.5. I’ll post a pic or two at some point. Seems like chains are not gonna work. At least on the front.

I’m surprised at all the different first hand experiences with whether these 35’s will even fit without trimming.

Seems likely I will have to trim the fenders to ensure I don’t rub at full lock/flex. Thanks for all the opinions.

At the gas station after the tire shop. No rubbing for normal driving. Snow chains on the front are out.
Thanks again all.
