Anyone with a newer 5500 done any suspension upgrades / mild lift?

Looking into a new 5500 as my next platform, and other than the Kederman air ride, i am not finding ANYTHING as far as suspension goes.

Buckstop offers a 3 1/2" kit as part of their single wheel conversion kit. It's a basic spacer lift.

Talk to Don Thuren about some King shocks for that application. I seem to recall hes done stuff for 5500s.

The front should work. But not the rear. There was a guy on the AEV forum that did a 5500 camper build with the AEV stuff.

The rear is the super simple part, its just leaf springs. I didnt even know AEV had a forum. I will go check now,

Kelderman is pretty good stuff. If you want to go a different route (hydraulic vs. air) check out Liquid Spring.

I am not really sure what you can do with the rear, the hard and stiff ride is the result of 19,000 lb GVWR of the 5500. If you change that, it kind of defeats the purpose of having a 5500 in the first place. I am sure Kelderman is probably better as far as ride comfort goes, but how much better? And is it worth the price and added complexity of completely changing the design of the truck from what the engineers originally did.

I have a Buckstop kit that I used for about a year. Installed it on my 2016 RAM 5500. I now have a Ford so no longer need. Have the bumper and carbon fiber front fender flares as well.

For the rear, basically just raise it 3-4" to fit 42s

Here is what a Buckstop kit looks like. Truck drove well with the kit installed. My truck had the 4.10 rear end and put the engine RPM in an ideal speed at 65 MPH.

Liquid Spring is adjustable on the fly. You can soften or stiffen as well as adjust ride height. Many 450/4500-550/5500 ambulances are coming through with this rear suspension. I have personal experience with this system on a 2016 F-550 with 100,000 miles on the clock. It's been pretty reliable all things considered.
