Ram HDs with 37s. Do you carry a spare?

I run 35's on my PW and keep the stock (33") spare under the bed in stock position, just in case. I am not willing to give up any bed space for a spare, don't want a tire gate. A 33 mounted on the front axle will get me back to civilization if I can't patch the 35s in the boonies. I would never go off road without a usable spare, just too risky. And, yes, I carry tire patch, inflator/sealer, OBA. Be prepared.

This is kind of what I'm thinking. Just put a cheap 35 on the 18" stock spare wheel and stuff it in there. The actual diameter of a 35" inflated to max pressure and a 37 at the 45ish psi i run my fronts can't be a ton. I carry a bottle jack with Safejack adapters and a compressor so I could just pump that 35 up to max to depress the effective diameter differential and head on into town. Discount Tire can get a 37" Toyo to anywhere in the country in a day or so.

This is essentially what you'd need to do anyway. If you aren't comfortable traveling without a spare, then you'd need to source a replacement 5th tire before you drove a few thousand miles home.

Doesn't make too much difference in the real world. On dirt or snow or mud or rocks, there will be enough slippage that things will work fine in 4WD, even with a front locker for short periods. Once you are back to pavement, put it into 2WD and drive to the tire shop.

I pulled my spare tire down last evening to begin work on installing air bags. What limited my spare to a 37" max was the wiring for the tail lights and trailer plugs were run inboard of the hitch bracket. I moved those outboard and now appears I can comfortably fit a 38" diameter tire.

I tried to make the 37" fit underneath where the factory spare was originally and even after removing the factory mounting hardware and cabe pulley system there just isn't enough space under there for it to work.

I run the tiregate, one of the original ones, the baja look. Its been good, on the truck for over 10 years.

Besides carrying the spare, I can see through the back the bed and see the little cars behind me. So many people sit so close, I had a hard time seeing them with the tailgate up.
