Smoky, foggy sunrise yesterday morning Waukesha County, WI. The smoke from western wildfires has been traveling here to Wisconsin occasionally for the past few weeks. It smelled like fire yesterday morning.

On any adventure there is always one moment that captures the energy/experience of the entire trip........if your lucky enough you manage to capture it in a spontaneous photograph......this is that photo!

We're preparing to go down the Schofield Pass Trail, Crested Butte, Colorado. We've just done several water and boulder field crossings and have no idea what we're getting into but, we know that we're being chased by a hell of a storm.....Kevin's expression symbolizes it all......the thrill, the risk, the fear, the danger, the excitement, the fatigue, the dread of the pending storm, the heat, the cold, the wet, the unknown......The Entire Friggin Adventure.

Cheers.

Did it catch you and of so how bad was it.

It did. The Schofield Trail is a challenging trail since a portion it is off camber towards the edge and into the Devils Hot tub/waterfall , with jagged granite that throws your tires towards the edge. We didn't know any of this and only found out as we saw a couple on an ATV coming up. The wife got off the ATV and walked while the guy walked the ATV up across the off-camber portion. As we started down the clouds let loose with both heavy rain and lightening. The dirt turned to mud. The jagged granite got slick. We ended up walking the Beemer down with a braking rope tied to the rear rack for extra stability and me as the "deadman" anchor. Once we got it down I went back up and rode the KLR down.....very exciting! The crazy thing is the entire challenging portion is maybe 200 yards but it took use over hour and half to get both bikes down!

The conquering hero's.....soaking wet, worn out and few extra dings on the bikes!

There's a famous youtube video of a guy riding his new KTM and GoPro on the trail and losing control and falling into the Devils Hot tub/waterfall (behind us in the photo).
