Range Rover Gills vs Mesh

The misses and I have been looking at the full size range rover recently. We looking at 08's. I have seen several with the vertical slits in the front fender and also the "mesh" covering in the front fender. Do these denote any differences? Are they incorrectly listed as 08's etc? Just curious.

Standards have gills
Supercharged have mesh
Although, some convert cause they like the look.
Black Badge and supercharged emblems should be a give-away but always check the VIN and original papers.

That is what my first guess was but I kept seeing them on non-supercharged models. I honestly prefer the standard "gills".
