Range Rover III

Does anybody wheel one? It's what I have - and therefore what I will be taking into the southern California desert.

I know the weaknesses with air suspension, and cooling system - anything else I should be worried about?

Weak sidewalls on the tires. On my very first wheeling trip back in 04 a RRIII sliced it's tire in a bad spot. Also didn't they have a front driveshaft issue?

Not that the RR isn't nice but why did you get rid of the Excursion? That was so nicely built up!

There is nothing really difficult in the desert. Does the RR have good skidplates? If the airbags fail, you could be a low-rider getting out.

New job afforded me absolutely NO time to camp at all - I knew it would be at least a year before it opened up again. We had three cars, so I couldn't stand having the Excursion sitting around - and a member here wanted it - and I knew it would get used.

I need to get under the RR to see what hangs low! I am thinking about how to alleviate the problem if the air suspension fails - I am going to see if Timbren makes a rubber spring that might replace the factory RR bump stops to alleviate some issues.

I used to wheel my 04 all the time with the low pro tires. No issue. most of my issue (drive tran) came from freeway or in city driving. But I wish there was a coil spring conversion kit like there is now when I was wheeling my RR. Check out some of these videos.

I still have my genuine LR expedition roof rack and ladder if there is any takes.

I was looking underneath my dads excursion a few days ago (well doing some work) and I noticed that the frames aren't fully boxed. Now I know your RR is a unibody but I know my disco has a fully boxed frame.
