Re-Posting In Correct Forum(i think...)

Hopefully this is the correct forum for this thread...If not please feel free to set me straight!
Since first posting I have made little bits of progress on the van where I can; I put the K&N Intake/filter system on there and got rid of that box style air filter and also had the local shop put a 3" DynoMax exhaust on her to sound a little less "grocery-getter". No droning sound in the van, just a little throaty in the higher RPM and nice rumble in the low RPM, exactly how I like it :)
I also did some rattle canin' and threw some plasti-dip on the bumpers and grill. And the last thing I did this weekend was put on some clear front blinkers I got on ebay for $18, kind of cool looking I think...

Here is whats in store for the (hopefully) near future in regards to leveling out the van/allowing for larger wheel-tire combos:
-Coils to raise the van 1.5-2"https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000C57UOC/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1
-Replacement front shocks 46mm https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009FU7IOM/ref=crt_ewc_title_dp_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
Once the springs, shocks, wheels and tires are installed and I get the alignment squared away locally (hopefully) and I have a chance to see how the steering is affected I may consider this bad boy as well https://weldtecdesigns.com/product/e-series-steering-stabilizer-kit/ Just not sure if its a necessity quite yet...

So far I absolutely love this van as a whole. For me, the jury is still out on these window covers...Ive taken them through one round of the automated car wash and they held up fine but that's obviously no torture test...Besides that Ive decided I really don't like the way they make the van look, I think it looks longer now. Hopefully by the end of the year, maybe some tax return $ and I can afford the $1000 tint job I was quoted ??

Nice van. Little by little you'll be able to make it ours. The more memories you put in, the better. As far as things to put in:
  • Coils. if you have a gas engine, the 880S may be too stiff and lift too much to the point that you may not be able to correct camber. I had them on my 4x4 5.4 and changed them to 880
  • Shocks. On my old E150 I had Bilsteins and I love them. Get the E350/E450 RV ones.
  • With new front coils you may have to raise the rear. I used SDtrucksprings in the pass.
  • With the 880 springs you should be able to fit 31" tires with minimum rub on the sway bar and some bending of the rear most tip of the front fender.
  • I like the window treatment. $1000 for a tint job seems high. Yes, there is a lot of glass, but is flat and easy to apply.
  • Did you feel any improvement with the KN filter? I've always be skeptical and afraid that the low retention allows more particles to get to the engine.
  • I had zero issues with the RSC after the 4x4 conversion. A minor lift should not be noticed.
  • $1200 should get you a nice set of wheels. I have Falken AT3W and I love them.
Hope this helps.

@Raul thank you for the reply and for the shared info as well!

I have to be honest I'm pretty well smoked on the whole debate over which coils to get...One person with the same van says "do this" to achieve a certain height and fit a specific size tire/wheel...then on another forum a different person says "Na dont get those" for another reason and explains it away o_O

At this point I'm circling back to getting the ford-parts spacer lift, slapping some new Bilsteins on there, and making due with the stock coils (at least the spacer-lift comes with blocks and U-bolts for the rear as well if needed)
I'm looking at a set (4) 265/70/17 Yokohama Geo-lander AT tires @$504 and a set (4) American Racing 17" matte black 8 hole Baja rims @$540, pretty smoking deal I think.
So...wheels, tires, spacer lift and shocks and I'm around $1500+/- without install OR alignment... I'm guessing minimum $150-175 for alignment and 2-3 hours labor for the rest so another $250?...Total out the door around $2k?

I actually had another shop re-quote the tinting and she was able to get it down to $175 for the removal of the old stuff and $600 for full install (9 windows)...better, but still not cheap!

In regards to the K&N intake - I 100% noticed a difference. The jury is still out on the gas mileage savings :LOL: but the power increase in undeniable in my opinion and will probably be handy once I throw the larger tires and heaver wheels on there. There is a sweet spot when accelerating through that 2500+ RPM range that you REALLY notice it. For one reason or another Ive always done these on my trucks and was always going to put one on the van as well as an exhaust. It just feels like home now

What kind of bed/bench seat is that? From a conversion van? If so, did it you have to put new mounts on the floor? It folds into a bed manually?

I actually scored that thing off of craigslist for $100! It was originally in an old Dodge Grand Caravan (I was told)
I was able to utilize the existing mounting holes from the previous bench seat in my van but I purchased all new grade 8 hardware, lock-washers, nuts etc. for mounting it.
Another thing I got lucky on was being able to use all 3 factory seatbelts, and yes it pulls out manually from the bottom turning into the bed and the opposite to revert back into a bench seat for the kids.
I used 2 $8 mexican print blankets to make some "seat covers" for it as well.

I had a 98 e350 extended v10. First I tried the heavy springs, the cc880s . They were a little to firm for me so I used spacers with the stock springs and bilstien shocks. Much more compliant over rough roads. You can run 285/75/16 if you trim the front fenders.

How'd you figure out what shocks would fit with the FordPartsOne 2" lift kit? Finding that the stock shocks currently don't fit on my '97 E-350 EB V8 Cargo van, and don't know how to source longer ones

No replies, huh? Where are the helpful people, or are they now too busy making money off these forums that they've abandoned the very foundation of these forums - to help others? I was in the same shocks dilemma and reached out to some of the "kit builders" in these forums and . . . either cricket or some response that they won't help unless they sold/installed the kit for me.

Anyway, I'll offer some help. It depends on what brand shocks you'd want. Fox has a catalog that lists the shocks for almost every model, including different lift heights and extended/collapsed lengths. Monroe and Bilstein have a similar catalogs. You can also find catalogs for interchanging shocks from other brands.

And if you don't find a likely/exact match for your application, some shocks are either custom revalve"able" (e.g. by Fox) and some expensive shocks are even compression-adjustable by the user.

Further, if you want to use your existing shocks, you can by "extending" it the amount of your lift. For example, for your 2" lift you can "extend" your shocks by bolting 2-3" long 3/-8-16 coupling nut over your shocks stem/stud and a 3/8-16 bolt for the stud that will mount to your shock tower. Use jam nuts to secure your custom "extender". It's really simple. For the rear, when your upper mount requires a stem/stud, you can even use a substitute shock with top eyelets by using an "eyelet to stem" shock mount adapter. Google it, they're available from Procomp and other vendors. It is not rocket science.

If you need further help, feel free to message me here at the forum.

I think the problem is that facebook has killed forums like these.
All the places I have loved over the years have dwindled down until there are only a handful of people left.
Facebook pages for stuff like this are next to worthless because they are hard to search for information , I wish everyone would come back :(
