Rear flood lights mounted in the bumper

I have a Kaymar Bumper with holes cut for rear facing flood lights, All the wiring is already in place, but the ******** Cepek lights the PO installed are toast. Need a small, powerful replacement that will fit in the existing mounting, and stand some abuse.

Can anyone point me to a product that will do the job without spending a lot of money?

Personally, I'd measure the clearances, then take a trip to the local Tractor Supply Co. and look at tractor lights. They tend to be pretty rugged, IMHO.

Another trick I like is replacing the bulbs in your backup lights with halogen bulbs. I did this on my '85 4Runner, and it really made backing up at night a lot easier. The 4Runner used a fairly common bulb, and the local parts store carried a halogen version.

Second the tractor work lights. They usually are a 'flood' type bulb, which is nicely matched to the job at hand. Classically they come in two types, steel housing or rubber housing. They use a PAR 36 bulb, which is about 4" OD. These bulbs will also fit in the 4" round "Torsion Mount" truck tail light rubber gaskets.

I owned a Kaymar on my XJ and now one on my 80 series landcruiser. A few years back i found a light at Pep Boys that fit in that spot perfectly. That's about all i can say. I just had to mount it in there properly. Wasn't that hard. Have no idea if they still carry them or not.

Have you thought about just getting this?

You can wire up a switch to the dash.. it's what i have.. and it can pointed any angle and raised/lowered. With the HELLA FF light.. it's extremely bright, almost too bright for a camp light i've noticed.

I thought about a Halogen tractor implement light mounted there, but decided to try to find lights that fit the Kaymar cut-outs, since they are already wired with a dash switch, etc. Could go with that solution is I can't get what I want.

There is a light made by Peterson Manufacturing that looks like it might work...

Trying to find a source for these. Not much out there, tho' PIAA has a set for about $200 - too mh, IMO.
