Finally found a painters pole with a disconnecting threaded top at Lowes. Cut off the threads and it fit beautifully. Just need to paint and wire, pictures of install to follow.

Hey, I'm in Fredericksburg. We need to get together for a trail run sometime. I run with a group of jeeps here and wouldn't mind finding someone that's not all jeep-ish to run with. It's a good group of guys though, and I'm sure you could run with us anytime. We have a trail run at shoe creek and big levels on the 21st coming up. May camp out that evening to enjoy the falls on the next day. Hopefully we get some snow. Sent you a PM.

Painted and wired. Found a 12v tension coiled wire and cannibalized it, a little worried about the small gauge of the wire inside the pole but hopefully the low wattage LED light won't burn it up.
