What synthetic oil do you recommend for gen2 (1994) Montero 3.5 DOHC? Tried Pennzoil Ultra 10W30 and it sheared. MonteroUOA.jpg. Attached is my latest UOA. Live in the desert SouthWest. Montero is well maintained and garage kept. Thanks for suggestions.

Is there a reason no one is using OEM Mitsubishi oil? I know there has been a lot of talk about too much zinc in products like Rotella clogging catalytic converters and other issues. It took me a few minutes to find a place that sells it. Just an idea. I am sure there are a lot of good choices that may be just as good. Just FYI-

I do have a case of Eneos Sustina (full synthetic) 5w30 that i haven't used. Also, I've been perusing the internet concerning the shell rotella. IdeMitsu is an excellent oil. You make a good point. I may try Red Line in the future. 5,000 OCI are out of the question for my Montero. The Owner manual suggest 7,500 OCI and oil filter change every other OCI. But, I'm going to stick with Severe Service intervals, based on the UOA's.

The no look easy answer is Shell rotella T6 5/40. Read on bobistheoilguy if you want to get even crazier.

I've been using Shell Rotella T6 5w40 in all my trucks for a long time. The '05 has had it in it since I bought it more than 7 years ago and 90K miles.

How is the new CK4 formula? It dropped the moly, calcium, and boron significantly.
