I am trying to figure out some good recovery points for the front of my disco ii. I dont want to buy another bumper right now. Any ideas?

Jate rings for the front and a receiver shackle for the rear. Those are your best options for a stock set up. The loops on the front of stock vehicles are for transport and not recovery.
You also don't NEED the receiver shackle. Put a strap into the stock receiver, then put the pin in through the reciever and through the strap. Not as easy as a shackle but it will work.

I was under the front looking to places to install/utilize a Jate ring and didn't see a safe spot. Any specific location?

I have a receiver shackle for the back.

I DIDNT KNOW LAND ROVERS GET STUCK ALSO AND MAY NEED RECOVERY LOL HAHA

Unfortunately I am still learning the limits of my rover.. So recovery will be needed.

On my D1 there is a spot on each frame rail near the front that a Jate ring will slide through perfectly. I think your D2 may be different though, sorry.

Just to confirm...the D2 is different and there really aren't any good places to install a JATE ring with the stock bumper on the truck. Your best option is a steel front bumper with recovery points, otherwise you're stuck with the stock recovery point.

I was afraid of that. I kept looking for ideas and found nothing. Thanks for confirming.

Yeah some of my friends have fashioned recovery points out of solid pieces(1/2" thick) of steel and then bolted it somewhere. I'm really surprised something is more commonly available for the front of the D2.

problem is the front bumper is too low and especially with the 'lip' still in place- even if it did have a recovery point, it would damage the cosmetics in stock form, sadly...

You can trim the bumper and then use a jate ring.

Or you could install one of the DAP hidden winch trays with a built in recovery point

IMO, Sam's suggestion is your best bet in the short term, just make sure you're getting the wider JATE rings as they'll have to fit over the crush cans.

Note: I tried this a while back (with the assistance of Justin from Lucky8) and couldn't get it to fit correctly without removing the 'steering protection' tube. Consequently, I have an independent Rover shop building a custom winch bumper...

Thanks. I saw a few install pics and this might work really well on my 04. I need to research the remote install options and clutch access on some winches and figure out what would work easiest.
