Hello all

I have been waiting for the weather here in CA. to cool off and now that it has i finally took the kids to RRC. It was an awesome trip for all of us. We stopped in at the Jawbone station and picked up a few maps (and the Mojave Road book) and set off for Schmidt tunnel.

After the tunnel we drove out the opposite way we came on the EP15 The drive was bumpy but the kids loved it. At the end of the day all my son could say was that this was his best day ever :). This was my first time really taking my truck out in the desert to explore and because i had the kids and was alone i took it very easy but if anyone would like to go to RRC and do some more exploring on a bit more difficult trails i would love to go.

I love this formation of rocks and it was really the last obstacle before we got back on the hard ball.

I hope you enjoyed the pics, can't wait to go back and do some more exploring.

...this was his best day ever :).

Too cool! I hope that he's hooked on exploring.

Only been to Burro Schmidt's tunnel once, probably when I was your son's age. And I don't recall ever being to Red Rock Canyon. Certainly not driving. Looks like some nice terrain for Fall through Spring exploring. Post up a trip in the California section, would love to go. 2nd Saturdays of the month are tough for me, but hey, that's what time off is for, right?

Nice trip. I have had this on my short-list for a while. Thanks for the increased inspiration to go. That's great you're inspiring the "outside" in your children, and even better that they respond enthusiastically!
