That message has nothing to do with oil changes. The computer will leave oil change due message when it has reached the factory oil change mileage typically somewhere between 5-7.5k miles.
A code reader should tell you what is triggering it. It is usually caused by a sensor reading something out of its normal parameters and is reducing engine power to prevent damage.

Maybe I had made a mistake , the reduced engine power isn't actually lit. The wrench/oil light has comes on for 20 seconds and turns off. I might have jumped the gun.

I am near my interval, I am going to do my oil and reset the light and see if it comes back on.

I have no check engine light and just did a full tuneup not even 3k ago. I put a scanner on with no pending codes. I'll report back.

Does yours have the Digital Information Center? Can you scroll through the vehicle information? Mine is newer, but you can view remaining oil life.

To get the wrench to go away .turn key on(dont start the van ) pump gas pedal 3-5 times .
