I've got a 2.7L std cab too. Running 35's and 5.29's. It rips around pretty good. Revs a little high on the fwy, but not too bad. I've have gone with 4.88's for 33's, and maybe 4.56's if it was more of a street-oriented vehicle.
I have a stock 2010 regular cab with the 5 spd. and 2.7
I can't imagine going to a larger tire which would make the 2.7 work harder yet! I tow a 1/4 ton Bantam trailer with a Hobie Pro Angler kayak, I also tow a 15' aluminum boat. the regular cab will tow the trailers but it takes me a bit longer to get where I want to go. I have a 09 4 door TRD 4x4 and it tows either trailer easily with the 4.0 but it uses more fuel too.
