LC takes top two spots on SUV reliability. Cool:

I've owned only 6 Cruisers in my life thusfar, some in fabulous and some in shamble condition. I know where each of them are right now, and they're all running beautifully. I have to admit I wish Toyota maintained a little less aerodynamic styling and took some more queues from their 70 series or even (gasp) hired the whole lot of Rover body designers, BUT I can think of very few vehicles with which I wouldn't hesitate a second to drive to anywhere in this World.

This is one of the major reasons why i picked the FZJ80 for my exped. rig. I've owned jeeps, toyotas, fords etc.. but nothing ever ran as reliable as my Toys.

I turned 181k yesterday and it runs like it's got 50k on it.

Mine's pushing 500,000kM's and I don't hesitiate to drive it to Central America from Canada. I did that trip TWICE last year with this truck and my biggest problem was an oil leak!!

I am now on cruiser #2 and I plan on adding an 80 as soon as its financially feasible to have cruiser #3. From this point in my life on, atleast one of my vehicles will be always be a cruiser!!

I've owner 3 FJ 40's since I was 20 the first one I sole to a friend then bought another one right after it - that one was rolled and totaled ( not my fault and did not get hurt too bad) the third one I have driven for the past 14 years can't kill it - the 80 is now going on year one with us - we put on 28K miles so far this year - no problems

I am on my second Tacoma - first one 100K had some brake issues (many did I just complained) toyota took care of it - traded in for the O4 Tacoma - 65K miles later still no problems

Me and Toyota are like that :friday:

Do you find it interesting the Tahoe was one of the best and the Hummer H2 one of the worst? Isn't the Hummer H2 basically built on the Tahoe frame?

It really doesn't matter, I am sticking with Toyota.

I like the Pick-Ups:
  1. Subaru Baja
  2. Toyota Tundra
  3. Toyota Tacoma
  4. Nissan Frontier (V6)

However, I think the Scooby is a car.

But GO 'Yotas:exclaim:

First let me say that I dont discount the stats. I guess its just strange. Ive never had any problems with my 2001 TDI Jetta (102,000mi) I never had any problems with my 1993 Jeep cherokee (105,000mi) Ive never had a troubles with either of my Suzuki Samurais. I guess Im just lucky.

I wish I could buy an HDJ80 cruiser here in the US. Ok, I know there one is for sale, but I cant afford 43,000 dollars.

Time to come out from under my lurking rock... ;)

I ran my 1988 Cherokee ragged without too many complaints, but it started to fall apart just after 100K.

Surprisingly, the Old Man 1979 E-350 4x4 van ran for nearly 20 years but finally disintegrated: It was not so much the miles, but old age and the beating it took.

The Cruiser... well, that's when I saw the light.:D I am certain I will drive this one until they pry my cold, dead hands from the steering wheel.

Cheers, R -

In this day and age, if a car doesn't give you 100,000 mi. relatively worry free then there is something seriously wrong.

The real issue is how does it do for the next 100,000 mi? Will it be crushed in a few years or is someone going to be rebuilding it in 10 years because it is cool.
