Renting an Off-road Trailer

I’ll be taking a trip to Utah and Colorado for about 10 days next summer. Are they any places where you can rent an off-road trailer with a rooftop tent and all.

My wife and I camp with out 6 month old, so the backseat of the JK stays in and space is at a premium. For a typical weekend camping trip we do in Washington, the gear can all just be crammed in the 2dr JK. For a weeklong trip we’ll need more comfort and space. I’d want something that will do Elephant Hill, Lockhart Basin type stuff.

Adventure Trailers was renting trailers but to my knowledge they no longer are (I'm sure one of them will be chiming in shortly ). I've heard from a couple of parties that are looking into the venture, one of which was planning to rent here in SLC or Moab but as of today I don't know of one doing so.

Moab rental would be awesome, I'd do it.

I won't be able to go into too much detail as it was all discussion I had with the prospective party and I was asked to help scope the market. I have some good connections with rental companies and others in Moab and we were able to get their feel for the need. 95% of the Moab trails can be done in single day, in and out of Moab. In fact Elephant Hill is done as a day trip out of Moab for events like Cruise Moab and Easter Jeep Safari. There is fuel at the Outpost and the drive isn't all that long on either end. I'm absolutely familiar with the routes that do merit overnight or multiple night stays but do they have enough appeal to offer a trailer rental for pickup and drop off back in Moab? Say you rent the trailer in Moab, do Lockhart, E-Hill, Beef Basin, etc, then you have to take it back to Moab to drop off. Feasible for some but others want to continue south into Arizona or west to Hite and beyond. The same argument for Kokopelli, Paradox, and others. White Rim is very lending to rentals in and out of Moab so there was some promise. This was just one hurdle we presented but for the most part we found viable solutions. I'll leave the details at that as its still something we might see or it might be something a different party wants to entertain :D

Kurt is correct we no longer rent trailers.

Renting trailers out of SLC makes sense Kurt, but renting out of Moab does not. The main point of having a trailer is extra storage. if you are leaving a metro area and driving to Moab to pick a trailer up, then you still have to cart all your belongings in the vehicle with you all the way to Moab.

Makes more sense to pick a trailer up in SLC, LA, Denver etc. and drive it out to Moab.

Not a rental, but the Muskoka foundation has an AT trailer that is available for loan, with feel good baggage! :sombrero:

I guess I will resurrect this :)
After checking out all the cool tents and trailers at Overland Expo, I think I have the wife convinced to approve the purchase of a trailer and RTT :wings:
Probably wont happen until the fall though. We are doing a short week-long run to southern Utah in June and would be interested in trying out a tent/trailer combo. I would like to actually sleep in one and tow it before I decide to purchase. The dream setup at this time is an AT Chaser with a Globetrotter tent (like Fred's, our neighbor at camp) but may be open to other combos.
Anyone have any ideas on who to talk to in SoCal?
Trip is June 3-8

IIRC British American Rover, or something close to that rents Campa USA offroad trailers, but I think they are in the east.

There was a California(?) based company that rented Chaser/Sierra type trailers as well. Cannot recall their name. I'll look to see if I saved it anywhere.

Might want to ask Sierra Trailers.
