Rethinking Talent

Really good article, and I couldn't agree more. The word talent gets thrown around waaaay too much IMO. Many people always seem to think two things when they see good photographers, 1) it must be their gear, or 2) they are just very talented. You rarely hear someone say they must have worked extremely hard to get to where they are. I totally agree with Alian, there's no substitution for goal driven hard work.

I agree with Milton Glaser 100%.

I have said a variation on that theme repeatedly for years now. After teaching a lot of talented students, and a lot of students that know how to work hard and have a sincere desire, I would much rather take the latter than the former.

Thanks for sharing that! That article link was perfectly timed as I'm about to become much more focused on my photography and journalism starting this February. Whatever I'm lacking, a little hard work and focus should take care of it. :)
