the frame tapers at the rear causing the springs to be pulled in at the top
Before
the next issue found a hole in the frame above the last body mount
Gas tank removed to clean/drain gas and clean out fuel tank and install fuel tank heater and s-par heater tube.
The fix, this will also allow me to reinforce the frame and build a bumper to some what match the front and also will have a swing out spare tire rack.
Here s where I am to date working on the rear bumper and frame, also saving for the new turbo and injectors for the engine and working on the other small things that need to get done will remove the interoir to line x the floor after I get the truck assembled i am going to take the body off and sandblast and rust bullet and paint the frame and have the under side of the body line xed and up to the level of the side moulding, need roof rack and few other things.
Nice job. Any more info on that rearend swap? I have one out of an 06 Id like to put in a 99 classic (88-98 style). Do you know how much wider this axle is?
Not sure I think that they are the same the thing I found out is that the frame is narrower at the back and with the arch of the springs made it look really bad like the springs werent sitting on the axle pads. I know call a Gm dealer and tell them your looking the swap the 06 rear end in because the one in the 99 failed and you want to make sure they are compatible.
two batteries will be back here the other one will be on the driver side frame rail be hind the t case or under the hood, the batteries Im using are AGM batteries 925cca.
Oh the center of both bumpers top will flip up to get to the winch in the front and access the batteries in the rear, I ve also got to figure out where to mount the hydronic heater and the espar heater.
