Ricoh's approach is novel: Packaging the sensor, lens and image
processing electronics into a single interchageable unit. This allows
you to change sensor type and pixel density along with the optics.
The camera body holds the battery and memory card, and provides
the user interface (controls and LCD panel to view the image).
Everything else is part of the lens package.
