Weight? Probably as much as a passenger or two (200-300 lbs.) would be my guess.
I've thought about it. For me it boiled down to when driving off road, how often am I in a situation where I could possibly roll over and the roof could cave in endangering me?
For slow crawling type of roll overs, it's not an issue unless you're rolling down a hill and even then it may just roll onto it's roof and stop as I witnessed with a friends gen 2.5. No harm came to him during the rollover but it caved in the front roof enough that his windshield was no longer usable and his doors did not close properly. After a bit of 'body massaging' with a HiLift he was able to get the doors to close properly and install a replacement windshield.
He also discovered as did the rest of us that EVERYTHING inside goes EVERYWHERE!!!
On the other hand if you're trying to protect yourself from higher speed roll overs, then a cage may be your only real option.
HTH.
