When loading my roof rack I put easy stuff up there. Wouldn't put any more weight on it than my roof would hold, max 230 pounds. at most two petrol cans (90), an OZ tent (45), propane tank (25), two fold up chairs (15) and maybe some clothes in a small medical chest (40).

Pic is too large to upload, but I hauled a 20+ foot long section of bowling alley (43" wide x 2" thick) on my ARB roof rack. The seller said it weighed 1400 lbs. He loaded it with a forklift, it was way more fun to unload it....
