hey guys,
making my 1976 bronco a light weekend adventure vehicle and would like yall’s help. I would like to get a roof basket for my rig but I do not want to damage paint or bolt any holes into the top (gutter mounts?). With that in mind, do you guys know of a roof rack that would fit on my early bronco?
Thanks,
Bennett

I think any roof mount option will result in drilling or rubbing/scuffing the paint job. I would leave that alone. The thing looks cherry.

Been a while since I've seen an older Bronco up close - by the way yours is outstanding! It does have the raingutters running around the upper edge doesn't it? If so, a mount like the one below just clamps to the raingutter with no drilling at all. Ran that type of tower for years back when all vehicles had external raingutters. Then you just need to find a basket you like to mount to the crossbars. Nothing should touch the roof to scuff it. Hope this helps.

x2 on not drilling, that roof is just fiberglass though isn't it? Die hard Jeep guy, but that is one nice Bronc, my favorite style, and probably the only that may, could, would, get me out of a Jeep.

Zeiderman, The roof is metal actually. (really heavy when taking the top off!) but yes no drilling will happen anything I put on the truck will be removable

Measure the roof width from gutter to gutter, then compare to other vintage vehicles - Land Cruisers, Land Rovers, etc. - these all had rain gutters and you may get lucky and be able to use their rack options.

gutter mounts are the way to go ....in the title you make it sound like you want a rack and then a separate basket to go on top of the rack .... that will make it quite tall ... but you could remove the basket and have just a set of cross bars left for surfboards or canoe etc .... I ran with just a set of cross bars for a while ... and thought about getting a basket that would attach to the cross bars ... then I finally found a "rack" on craigslist ...it was cross bars and basket all in one thing ... who knew ... if you create an account with craigslist (email and a password) you can set up alerts that send you an email when certain words that you selected show up for sale ..... over a year waiting for me till the right one came up at the right price ..... new was just out of my budget ..... scored mine for 200 bucks and it looks like it was made for my rig ... lots of companies making racks will have a gutter mount options for mounting ....

.......................................check out wildernessracks.com .... go to other .. then non jeep racks and pick the size you want .... mounting points are adjustable in both in and out and up and down directions ........... Matt
