I'm really looking forward to it. Mine will go on an off road capable trailer (about 1 foot ground clearance on 31s). I'm sketching some tarp setups to cover the cooking side of the trailer. Probably enter tent from the back. I'll be using some M8 bolts to mount the brackets for the tarp. And some lights. And some speakers for the tunes. and and ...
Crossbars will be going on immediately. Probably a 100w solar panel to field charge the big battery in the trailer. Looks like M8 from the crossbars to the panel Z-clips, put a wire thru blister on the trailer box, and wire the the charge controller. No problemo! Mounts for area light or speakers perhaps next. My gladiator has molle panels in the bed, so shovel, axe, jack, recovery gear box are already secure. There's an ARB twin behind the driver side back seat, so inflatable mattresses and water toys are covered.
What else could attach to the rails? My interest would be great in an "annex" to make ladder ascent and descent enclosed. Let me rephrase that. My wife says I'm extremely interested in such a product. Yes dear, of course we're interested. We should order it immediately when it becomes available.
I'm going to browse my local orange building supply place. Could I mount an 8' section of large diameter pvc pipe, screw on caps on the ends? Standoff pipe holder into the tent rail.... It would hold stuff like fishing rods, ham radio antenna, tent poles, and the like. Nothing heavy, just stuff that won't easily fit in the Jeep. Or maybe a place to roll up and stash my dancing bear/skeleton flag when travelling in areas where "that's not the kind of music played around here!".
How about a nice kitchen utensil rack or magnetic knife holder to attach to the side rail of the tent? I'll be cooking on the driver side....
Perhaps I could mount that LED car sign I saw on zon. You know, scrolling message in big letters. "Eat at Joe's!" "This space available." By the way, I'm told such signs should not be used to send rude messages to other drivers, as they may become startled or agitated, loose control of their vehicle, and crash into you, causing needless expense and trip delay, not to mention the possibility of injury. So, just happy, friendly, kind messages. Like "Wow! Cool Prius!" or "Visualize Whirled Peas".
Well, I've got a few ideas...
