Anyone mounted a Rotopax to an AEV Rear bumper with tire swing? Rotopax also has the 2 Tire Mounting Brackets with Strap system that ratchets to the spare tire but didn't know if they containers would stay in place.

I think there was a thread on it awhile back referring to this, or maybe it was about their own new tire carrier with integrated gas container. I'm sure others will help identify if the search fails to find it.

I wish I could help, I have an LOD Rear Bumper/Tire Carrier. My Rotopax mounts for it arrive tomorrow or early next week. I can't wait.

I currently have an 09 Jeep JK with Rotopax strapped around my tire with original bumper, etc..From my perspective they work as advertised. I drove from Chi- California with them on the back. Once in California , I went to Death Valley, Mojave Desert and Joshua Tree and have done the trails. They stayed on and had no problems off-roading. I was caring 2 3 gallons on each side. The ONLY problem is once there on you can't open your rear tail-gate. The pax obstruct the door handle, so you have to take them off to open the back. Thats a pain. I imagine if they were attached to a swing-out tire carrier that wasn't attached to the door then it wouldn't be a problem. But, I'm upgrading to the AEV bumper, etc.. so I won't be needed them anymore.

i built my own and mounted it to a Smittybilt rear bumper with tire carrier

Both sides can carry 2 Rotopak tanks. Passenger side can carry 2 of the longer 4gallon tanks
The mount also doubles as my CB radio antenna mount (also future ham radio antenna) and a small basket.

He loves Jeep!
Not sure if this will help you but, my rear carrier was sent with this to mount a roto. You can just holesaw through the arm and install.

Keith, that looks awesome. I have an LOD rear bumper and will have the mounts for that. But if I needed even MORE, I could mount additional fuel or water packs using that one!

Right now the setup I will have should be 12 gallons of fuel(four 3-gallon packs), I can add another 4 gallons using that one to up it to 16 gallons. What's great is it can be modular of water or fuel, 16 gallons of fuel or 12 gallons of fuel and 4 gallons of water or 9 gallons of fuel and 7 gallons of water, etc. etc. I love being able to setup for the trip's demands. Only problem is having to buy all those rotopax packs! Probably will only have 2 packs for 6 gallons of fuel and the rest will be purchased when/if needed.

I purchased the roto pax tire strap and ran into the same problem you did with the pax obstructing the tailgate handle. I am going to shift the mounts up on the tire. Hopefully this works.

Does the strap system hold the Rotopax containers in place?
