BTW, what kind of MC stuff? I have a love affair with MC's too :bike_rider:

I am just closing down my Ducati dealership. I am into road racing / trackdays, and enduro/desert/woods riding as well as supermoto.
I just built a custom Ducati Hypermotard for Steve Jones who was the guitar player for the sex pistols. I need to bring it down to him on Wednesday.

I have a job offer at Newport Beach Ducati, but I am not keen on working at a motorcycle shop after having owned one for 10 years. I also have an offer to go back to aviation maintenance at Chino airport. I have an A&P license and my friend just bought a flight school, it sounds interesting. I will probably move to somewhere in SoCal this year.

Oh, this is not a final build picture. I can't quite put those up yet. There is still fuel lines and wiring harness hanging out in this one, but yo get the idea. Search Ducati Hypermotard and you will see what I started with.

i like the headlight mount (baja designs?) looks sweet. My other company builds image vehicles for SEMA and we built the first BMW GSA1200 for that show. We had a blast. I have a good friend who handles all the swag for Aprillia and Ducati.

Love to meet you when you get some time.

I stop by sometime when I am not on an insane schedule. What's your friends name? Aprilia and Ducati are like oil and water. I don't think they even share many outside resources unless there in no other choice.

It's almost done. Off to Indiana to get it next week!!!!

Hello everyone. I just got the first pictures of my new Expedition Cargo/bike/camping box. We could also think of it as an all weather mobile lodge. I will have some work to do to make it a true "off the grid" mobile lodge, but the basics are done. They should send me interior pics as soon as my counter top is ready and installed.
Remember, the point of this trailer is not to pull it over the Rubicon with my Rubicon. I designed it to be a capable base camp. With a little skill and patience, I can position the trailer into some pretty remote spots and use it as a base for exploring on my Husqvarna TE 310 or SMR 450. I can also use it to haul my Ducati's to track days.
We are going to travel quite a bit this year in search of a place to move to. There is a good chance we will end up buying a remote and undeveloped piece of land. This trailer will work well to haul our tools and materials so we can stay in it while we build a permanent structure.

Future Mods List.

Solar Panels for battery charging

Solar water heat.

Observation deck on top, ladder up the front. Observation deck will also be used for cargo.

A tent that turns the rear loading ramp into another room. I can put an airbed in the room, or use to spread out a bit when staying in one spot for a while. I will make some flip down stands to hold the ramp door level.

Some more armor around the weak spots, maybe some sort of tree branch protection for the upper parts.

It has a room for the toilet, but I need to find an efficient, tough, and easy to maintain portable toilet for it. We will need this soon.

I want to incorporate some sort of water filtration system to fill the tanks. The "tanks" are just blue plastic 8 gallon cans. I like this better than a built in tank.

Venting for motorcycle fuel tanks. Have you ever tried to sleep with a bike full of 110 octane race fuel? Not pleasant.

Led exterior lights. I want a couple levels of lighting, from just enough to see the ground, to full on work lights. When racing, repairs happen at night.

I opted to leave out any sort of fold down couch or dinette. I didn't like the options they had. I can make something a little more cozy. Maybe a nice wood flip up and some good folding chairs. I have a picnic table I can bring too.

Nice Trailer build!

I stopped by your shop a few months back and picked up some dirt tires for my KTM690E. I was driving our Tiger Motorhome. Love the Trailer. Have you left Bend yet? I will be there at the end of July to mid August. Dirt ride maybe?
Got any pics of the custom Hypermotard finished?

Hope all is well,
Kevin

Kevin, good to hear from you. We are still in Bend, but not for long. It is taking longer than I thought to finish things up. If I am back around here a dirt ride would be great, but chances are we will be camping up in Wenatchee WA at that time. Good single track up there and I am doing some aircraft stuff in Chelan WA.
I do have pictures of the finished Hyper. I am in the process of organizing my smugmug galleries, I will share some links to stuff when I am done.

looking good!! is the large side opening for a pop out?

The large side opening is a tent with a queen sized bed. The tent folds ou with the door. About 30 seconds from opening it to sleeping on it. It is the heaviest tent made for this type of thing. They are putting the same tent in their new ice fishing trailer. It also unzips to make a screen room for nice weather.

This is looking good! Any pictures of it finished? Would love to see some of it loaded too just to get an idea of just how much room there actually is inside.

Also, did you opt for an outdoor shower? Or, are you using a solar shower type?

I dont know how in the hell I missed this..asleep at the wheel I guess..:smiley_drive:

She's a thing a beauty, and joy for ever..

How about one of those casette toilets that have a side door to access the "business" end and dump it? I like the combi bathrooms, say like in an Aliner, that take up minimal space, but give you the biggest bang for your buck.

Great workmanship..wishing you continued success.

trailer specs?

I'm really diggin' the build and can't wait to see the future mods. I ended up calling Livin' Lite and after a while of talking with them and getting all of my questions answered they ended up sending me a MSRP build sheet. I was just curious if you could post up what options you went for and if you don't mind a price for the build? I'm trying to look thru the build sheet and thn back at your pictures and I'm seeing a mix of custom and spec work (I think). Also curious as you were going thru the build process if there were options that you decided not to do (i.e. once you saw them you decided you could do them cheaper, they were not as practical as you thought, etc.)

Thanks so much and enjoy the summer in your new toy!!
