I have a machinist buddy of mine who's going to look at fabbing up something similar to what you have. The tent will overhang a bit (an autohome columbus) but I'll have the benefit of mostly covering the bed which'll let me put a pull out drawer with rubbermaids on it.


I'll assume you're in the bay area mentioning skyline. I used to live in San Carlos and would be up on skyline from time to time (if it's the same skyline were' talking about here)

Glad it was helpful. It's a simple solution but worked after about an hour walking around the barn and garage picking up scrap pieces and laying them across the bed.....One of these days I'll get around to refining it a little bit.

As for Skyline Drive....I'm on the right coast, not the left. I was referring to skyline drive through the appalachian mountains. I'm in the CHESAPEAKE bay area :088:

We brought this question up to the owner of Eezi-Awn, A RTT can be mounted to a camper shell as long as the mounts to the cap are the flat mount bars, as they evenly disperse the weight over the shell. He stated that they have been doing this overseas for years and have not had issues over there or that he has heard of.

Here is my solution. I firmly believe that if there is any doubt - there is no doubt (shameless cipe from Ronin) The last thing you want or need is cap failure in the bush, miles from help etc. etc. In the sometimes harsh throws of off road travel, I felt it best to have the most sturdy and useful option I could think of!

I not only did the roof rack, I had a floor put on it and a step rail that runs along the seam between the cap and the bed. It is also 100% Line-X'd! This combo has proven itself invaluable on daily missions, much more so when I have the RTT on it.
