RTT mount question

Hello,

Currently looking at purchasing a RTT and was wondering if anyone has mounted an RTT on top of a cargo basket? I have a 2011 Subaru Outback and was wondering about mounting the RTT on top of my Yakima Load warrior cargo basket to raise the bottom of the tent about 5" so I can stand under it.

My understanding is lower is better. Less drag and lower center of gravity while driving.

Trust me the closer you mount it to the top the vehicle the better. Why? Wind resistance, center of gravity, and lift. You would be surprised how unstable a vehicle becomes with air traveling under the RTT. The other issue is weight. Not the weight of the RTT but the dynamic weight while the vehicle is moving. You also need significant support under the RTT. At least two or three normal Yakima or Thule style carry bars.
