RTT on tall vehicle

On our last trip, we had our Tepui Kukenam bolted onto the top rails of our Safety Devices roof rack. Not ideal, but it's what we had. With the tent about 8 1/2' off the ground, I was the only one that could reach the straps. I found that tying some string to the cover's zipper made a big difference in opening and closing it. Just tie it to the rack when you're done or you'll be driving around with six feet of bailing twine dragging behind you!

Thanks for all of the advice I think I am settled on a Tepui Autana Ruggedized at this point my next decision is to either adapt some roof rack rails to my ARE topper or bend up a exo type cage / roof rack. Like the picture below.

The standard ladder supplied with our AutoHome tents extends to 87" tall and is tested (by AM General) to 800 lbs. There are a few high top sprinter van installations that required a taller ladder, but that is an exception. We also supply a ladder bag for carying the ladder inside the tents when stowed for travel.
