so ive got a 96 bronco that id like to put a RTT on. issue is it wont fit in my garage with the RTT installed. does anyone make a quick release rail system that would work with an RTT? the mounting on the bronco would need to be pretty low with the RTT removed. i only have about 2" of clearance now.

here is what i want to put one on.

thanks,
chris

I don't know what you consider quick.

I used U-joint bolts to mount my tents on my tubular rack rails. The nuts are up, bolt ends go through unistrut, and I can get both tents loose and off the Jeep in about 30 minutes in the driveway. More like 15 if I grab the air ratchet...

Putting them up is slower because you have to line them up and I don't like air wrenching to tighten. I'm guessing over tight could distort the rack or maybe break a bolt.

I would be nervous that any sort of quick release would risk disengaging on the highway or rattle in the wind.

The quickest imo would be the Thule 430 Tracker II either with static base mounts or with tracks installed. Key locks in place and removes with the press of a button.
Should be strong enough for the tent and occupant. If you plan on a large family model and a few bodies, I would be concerned about the load on the top itself.

i looked at the thule and yakima products but both say max load capacity is 165lbs. i plan on just sleeping my wife, son and i. total weight wouldnt exceed 500 lbs. as far as the fiberglass top goes i have a roll cage in the bronco that i could tie into whatever mounts i can use.

Yakima Control Towers and Landing Pads. I used them to hold up a CVT RTT with two people and two dogs for a long time. Zero issues once I went to three bars. Comes off really quick too.

Usually weight ratings on racks are dynamic load, i.e. 165lbs going 70mph down the road. The static number is usually much higher (around 2-3x, from what I have seen). I would contact the manufacturer and ask about the static vs dynamic load.
