RTT survives!!!

For those with Autohome products - my Overcamp just survived a 15 mph low clearance hit with only minor repairable damage (bent hinge and lower frame - easily realigned and straightened then re-installed) thanks to an over-trusting wife and poor clearance signage.

The impact slid the entire tent and the 3 crossbars it was attached to (Stock Tahoe) right down the side rails and pushed them out the end (popping the plastic decorative end covers off) , landed on the ground with the front end bouncing off the bumper before hitting the ground. Didn't even scratch the rear doors or break any glass (so just how fast was she going anyway...)

So there is one reason to use the OEM roof rack. If the rack was sturdier more damage would have resulted I think.

Did that a few years back with my Columbus mounted on Thule crossbars. cracked the trim around the bottom of the tent top and bent the Thule vertical bits. Extremely depressing, but the tent was basically fine.

So get a CB antenna and mount it on the front so that it sticks up as high as the RTT. Perhaps that will help avoid hitting when you see it hit first...

Pretty dang lucky for you that it did not go much worse! Congrats (I guess)
