Rust in the gas tank of a series 3

Hello friends,

I am helping a friend rebuild a Land Rover Series 3 Lightweight, and we pulled the two gas tanks of today and one of them has rust inside along the walls and on the bottom. It has been sitting for 6 years I believe. The structure of the gas tank isn't compromised, is there a way to clean out the gas tank of the rust? Or should we just look into a whole new gas tank? Need your advice, and thank you!

Check Eastwoods for gas tank cleaner and sealer. I did that to one of my tanks and replaced the other one (I have dual tanks).

The refurb'd one still works just fine.
