Ryobi Rechargeable Tools

This seems to be the closest place to post this, sorry if it should be some place else. A while ago, in a link to another site, the guy mentioned Ryobi tools and was really promoting them. I am getting close to purchasing my truck (hopefully) and decided to check out what Home Depot has available. First thing that popped up was an 18v combo set including a circular saw, reciprocating saw, drill, sander and a flashlight (?!?), with one battery and recharger, for $109. Without hardly thinking, it was in my shopping cart, where it managed to get up to $131.60 with shipping (no store delivery avail.) and tax. They had many other combos available as well, including some with 2 batteries and no flashlight, but without the sander, so I stuck with that one.

Part of the reason for the specials might be they have come out with a new Lithium-Ion battery model, but those were $260!

Peru doesnt have their own version of Home Depot? Seems like it would cost alot more to have that shipped there

Truck purchase, build and usage will be in the U.S. I had the tools shipped to a friend in Florida, where I will be flying to, and where I am hoping to buy the truck. Yeah, it would have cost a lot to ship it here. We have gotten Ace Home Centers in recent years, not bad for a "mini" Home Depot type.

I did look for the Ryobi today just out of curiosity to see what they would cost here. I didn't find anything like this in the big shopping area of small tool stores. Battery operated drills, but not the saws or sander. I didn't take the time to go to Ace, called Maestro Home Center here, so don't know if they have them or not.

I have had an 18V combo kit for around 3 years now. It has worked flawlessly. One thing I like about Ryobi is they keep the price of batteries cheap. I had a dewalt drill and both batteries died. Two new batteries were more than the whole Ryobi kit! I recently picked up the impact driver and its works really well. I also have the chainsaw(hey it was on sale for $30 so why not?) and it works OK for small branches or if I am way up in the cherry tree pruning. I bought it right before I built a 20x30 deck with roof etc. and it handled all tasks fine. It screwed in some 2000 screws in and is my main drill in the shop right now.

I use Ryobi for my home stuff. Works fine. If I used those tools for work, I might go with DeWalt or Milwaukee or something. But I don't have to have it outlast my kids. Especially at the price difference.
