The height sensor wires that get re-routed are along the driver's side front frame. They sit on the outboard side and a larger tire can sometimes catch and rip them off. The fix is simple, just undo the clips and zip-tie the loom to the top of the frame rail. It takes longer to jack the truck up and remove the wheel than it does to do the fix.
There is also a semi-common problem with the first few inches of the height sensor wiring loom corroding. There is a replacement part that consists basically of the sensor plug and about a foot of wiring. Just cut the old loom back and splice in the new end. They sell for about $40 IIRC at AB.
However, neither of these is what the OP is looking at. He's looking at the RIGHT front, not the left, and he's looking at a speed sensor, not a height sensor. This sounds more like a sloppy mechanic than a typical failure. I can't say I've ever had to do a speed sensor so I haven't looked closely at the wiring runs. I've pulled them off when removing the suspension, but never looked at them specifically.
Good luck, and if you're still on the road I'd just pay the $100 and have it taken care of. That's about as cheap as you'll find for any repair, much less a Rover.
I suspect a lot of the codes you are throwing are a cascade effect. Though they are not directly related to the sensor, it causes a chain reaction due to the CAN buss. At least I hope so ... I'm not an expert and I didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn last night.
