For sale is a 1984 Vanagon Westfalia with a Kennedy Engineering (CA legal) Subaru EJ22 conversion. This Vanagon has been meticulously renovated from drivetrain to interior to suspension to body and paint and improved to better than stock specifications. Over $100k invested.
I will detail as much as possible below, but also have a much more extensive writeup with detailed list of modifications, 100+ photos, a spreadsheet of dollars spent and other information at vanagonforsale.com
Located in Salt Lake City, Utah and can facilitate a fly and drive or shipping. I've shipped many vehicles via intercity lines with 100% success.
Four binders packed with receipts and documentation will be provided to the lucky buyer, many spare and backup parts, and am including hard to find original accessories like the rear screen door. Current actual miles on the van at the time of writing this is 121,299.
Since purchasing and restoration this has been stored in a climate-controlled garage, never driven in the snow or on salted roads (parked for the winter every year), the undercarriage protected with fluid film on exposed areas and detailed regularly. Paint has been maintained with Griots garage products and sealed twice a year with Collinite Insulator 845.
This Vanagon was purchased by me in 2017 in California. I chose this Vanagon for this build because it was 100% rust free, very low miles and well taken care of. Notably it had zero seam rust (a common and difficult to fix Vanagon malady), zero accidents, a clean Carfax and great documentation of previous maintenance.
Some of the high points of the restoration:
