Salvaged Rubicon Unlimited is it worth it? Question

A friend of mine just bought a 2014 Rubicon that had been rolled in California. It also had a ton of very nice aftermarket accessories, lift, etc.,...and leather interior. I believe he paid $15,000. After replacing the windshield frame, radiator, hardtop, and a few suspension parts, he driving it around now and it looks brand new. The price this person is asking for a salvaged 2011 is absolutely ridiculous. Anyone who has been around jeeps for awhile knows that it is almost impossible to recover the cost of mods. This seller is trying to do just that. I wouldn't pay even half of what he is asking. Stay away.

One key thing is having the seller show you a list of all the parts he purchased and used to fix the vehicle so you know the extent of the damage prior to being repaired. If it was a roll over make sure your mechanic checks the axles for any bending, frame for straightness and any repairs made to the frame. If everything checks out think about what you would pay for a similar Jeep (with the same ad dons) that is non salvaged and take that price deduct 40% from it for the salvage title and you will have a fair price IMHO.

I think the price is actually pretty realistic, someone will buy it for that. I've owned a vehicle with a salvage title, if done right, the only difference is the piece of paper.
