Samsung Galaxy Camera

I'm not sure if this should be posted in the Photography area or Cell Phone section, but here goes...

Samsung just introduced a new enthusiast travel camera that runs Android 4.1, and includes 3G/4G connectivity. That means photos can be uploaded to your favorite social media site anywhere you have cell phone data service, just like when you take a photo with your smart phone. You can also upload to photo sharing sites, or to cloud storage.

The Galaxy Camera does not permit standard voice calls. However, because the camera runs Android, you could use a VOIP app like Skype to have a voice connection.

The camera part of this product has decent specs: 16 megapixel backlit CMOS sensor, 20x zoom lens with the equivalent of a 23mm lens at the wide angle end, 300 pixel per inch LCD screen. The camera body is devoid of switches and dials. All control settings are made using menus on the touch screen.

Being an Android device, the Galaxy Camera can run 3rd party apps. The 4.8 inch screen and support for either Gps or Glonass positioning means the Galaxy Camera will do well with navigation apps. And you can play Angry Birds or browse the Web while you wait for just the right moment to make an exposure.

Unknown at this time are price, which cell phone service providers are Samsung's partners, and what the battery life is like. The battery is removable.

One additional bit of news: Samsung is partnering with Dropbox to provide 50GB of cloud storage without charge for two years. The Dropbox Android app will be pre-loaded on the Galaxy Camera.

if battery capacity in # of shots per charge is equivalent or greater than the typicall P&S cameras, then I'd be interested.. if not, then it's trash

I don't understand why they didn't include regular cell features? Man an all in one with decent specs would be great. Not everyone puts there cell. in the their pocket all the time.
