Sand Mats

Well, I just finished cutting off the connecting hooks and grinding the edges of my new PSP landing mats (Oops! Meant to say "sand mats"). I know, I know, they're heavy and bulky but at $20 a piece I figured I couldn't go wrong. Ok, so I had to drive an hour and 15 minutes each way to get them, but still, even with the travel time and the small amout of labor I've put into them I figure I've saved a BUNCH of money. I now have FOUR 5'x15" indusrtial strength mats. I've seen similar items going for $150-$180 per PAIR (includes shipping) on the internet. Not only can I use them for the sand but, if need be, I can double stack them for bridging. Short distances of course. Just thought I'd share that info with you all. If your interested I got them from:

nice, sick deal. Roughly how much do they weigh a piece. I am sold, most likely will pick up some for myself. What did you buy 4?

Sand mats

They weigh 28 lbs. each which, when the four of them are mounted on the outboard sides over the rear tires of a nose heavy Pinzgauer, should help to improve the front to rear weight ratio. The reasons I bought four of them were: 1-My truck weighs about 4400lbs. empty. 2-They were only $20 a piece. 3-If I was going to make the drive (one and a half hours each way) I might as well make the trip worthwile. They also sell military trailers so I looked at some of them as well.

:sombrero: I haven't been stuck in sand/snow (anymore), but these are compact and easy to use-

Howdy!
Those do look great, I would even consider carrying some of those with me in addition to my runway matting. They look like they are very light and highly usefull. I will continue to carry the steel mats though as they can be used to bridge the deep, narrow gullies that I sometimes encounter.
