Well,

I have traded my JK Unlimited on a new Nissan Micra. Straight trade, no money from my pocket. It was a fun rig, but with the amount of KMs on it, and the micra being 4 times better on gas than the Jeep, its time to save some coin and travel more! No vehicle expenses other than gas, oil and filter for the next few years is going to be nice again!..

Wow! Congrats on the changes. I saw a Patriot just on Friday with a mild lift and all terrains that looked really good. Seems like with a lttle work and avoiding the really tough trails, the patriot could get you 90% of places you might want to go.

Good luck with it.

Congrats!

What color did you get?

I had never heard of the Micra, so I looked it up. Cool car. Would be a real hoot on an autocross course (or the favorite twisty roads of your choice).

Got a white top of the line model. And I can attest to the autocross setup, the end/beginning (depending on direction of travel) of the cabot trail in nova scotia is twisty like an autocross course. IT was a blast. it has 109hp, and handles like a go cart. As for the pat, RRO lift and goodies going on asap. part of the decision of getting rid of the Wrangler.

Yeah, Getoutthere. Just a life timing thing. Im sure I will have another JK or maybe a new version when they come out. But right now, I am driving 8 hrs a day, probably 2 times a month since my son is in university, so The Micra and Patriot are much better choices for that, as well, The Pat can do 90% of terrain in newfoundland with some small modifications. I never did get the deep mud running thing....we are more of the pack the rig get away from everything camping types and see the back country.

Hi - a quick question please.

I am becoming tempted by a second-hand patriot here in the UK but have been told there is limited headroom for taller people. I am exactly 6 feet tall - from your personal experience how would you say the ampount of room is for someone tall?

Thanks for reading.

Best Wishes,
David

For what it's worth, I love Micras. If we got them in the States, I'd probably get one. I mean, they have their own racing series!

And cool about the Pat. I think we'll see more rigs with fully independent suspension venturing off the pavement in the coming years. Crosstreks, Renegades, Cherokees, RAV4s, etc.

My Micra is getting the suspension under the Micra cup cars. They are a blast to drive. Keeping the 16" wheel size and going with a black rim with red line on them....add a roof rack and some stereo gear for apple carplay. I LOVE the gas milage I get from it too!

And yes, I see a shift toward independent suspension. I am NOT missing my Wrangler one bit. The patriot is better on gas, just as fast, handles, rides, and is just a better all round vehicle. The JK is better off road, however.....with the lift and 235's I have an 1" more ground clearance than a stock JK so its not all that bad.

HA ha...nope....just the intensity package with red mirrors, door handles, lower stripe and rear hatch finisher. We got hammered by the leftovers of Matthew yesterday....many roads washed out....6.3" of rain with high winds....lots of lakes, rivers etc overflowed their banks taking houses and briges etc with it. The micra is sitting on dry land while the pat is out patrolling. Its crazy here. Our main highway is washed away so theres no travel from one side of the island to the other. CRAZY!

Well, I have been pretty quiet regarding mods to our rigs lately, Just getting my new business going. LONG PROCESS. WAY longer than I thought. So everything has been put on hold until I get going.....but come the spring I should be able to go full bore on both vehicles. The patriot, I think I'm going to go a little freaky with the suspension. I am going to get in contact with air lift performance about building a "reverse" air suspension system. Where, SLAMMED is stock height, and adding more air raises the patriot. That way, with weight aboard, or a trailer in tow. We can level out the rig for good driving manners. Then, when off road.....we can raise the patriot to get over obstacles. They have build your own kits....I am going to get in contact with them regarding what I need to do this. Supposedly, these air lift performance kits keep a nice comfortable ride too. Since they can be built to any vehicle, I think I can fab it up in my shop and then powder coat the parts...install and test. Maybe a way to get a good overland suspension under the little jeeps. As for the micra, eibach pro kit and wider tires and wheels...DONE! ha ha.
