Scepter MFC Group Buy

No cans, no gaskets, no Monte

I did not receive my cans or my gaskets from Monte. He did take my $110 plus shipping and sent me a few emails about how he intended to send my MFC's the next day. Nothing. He has a history of this less than desirable behavior on other forums as well. I found at least four email addresses he was associated with and sent a plea to do the right thing to all of them--no luck. The Pay Pal dispute resolution process is a joke. He has subsequently gone incommunicado and my desire to track his sorry self down in Santa Cruz is overcome by common sense and just chalking this up to a learning experience. He is now sporting a big dent in his karma. So, those of you who got your cans, don't say good things. An man who is only an occasional thief is not worthy of a supportive post.

I gather that he's in your neck of the woods and on Facebook.. Sorry you were totally taken but as we all know there are people like that in this world.

Uh Oh...

I reluctantly give SC surfer the benefit of the doubt for now, but it's tough. It has, after all, been more than a month since the cans have been received by others. And I see a similar history in the sticker debacle on the other board. I don't have any of my hard earned money tied up in this group buy, but I was the one who told him where to get the cans here in the USA, so I'll feel pretty bad if people get shafted.

Hopefully everyone used their credit card to purchase the cans through PayPal, so you can just go to your credit card company and have the charges rescinded. I think there is a time limit for doing this though, so you'd all better check!

McDonald. Anyone who has not received the items they ordered please PM me. This includes gaskets. I am gathering correspondence, checks, paypal receipts, etc, which will be presented as evidence.

I don't want you to tip your hand, but I'm curious... Presented as evidence to whom? It's not like you can take your complaint to the legal system. PayPal, maybe. Your credit card company, sure. But that's all done on an individual basis as far as I know, not as a group.

Personally , I don't think I would be sending any type of paper work with personal information on it to someone I have never met...just saying. Nothing against you over, but one never knows these days. You show up on the forum with an issue and start to gather info...I would think that there would be another way of getting this resolved...

Good point--I'm not sure how "overthehillandfaraway" could possibly have been involved in the group buy, since he joind this forum late last month. Looks like somebody possibly trying to gather member's personal information??

I sure can. A contract was broken.

I don't expect or want personal info from anybody. I simply want to hear from others that have not received the items they ordered. This will be used as supporting evidence. In court, this will show a pattern of fraud.

I've been a lurker for a while. I contacted Monte via PM to get in on the buy. Things do happen outside of forums you know.

Sure you can. Did any of you send money through USPS, or recieve cans via USPS? If he's defaulting, I'm pretty sure it's mail fraud, which is a federal offense.

Besides, you can sue for anything. Literally. Getting it to stick is a bit harder.

If USPS money order is used to pay then it is a federal offense and USPS has investigator will look into it if you file a complaint.

Auto reply avalanche from Monte

So, in my continuing quest to find out where Monte and my very paid for MFC's had gone, I had sent emails to every email address I could find which resolved to the wayward Mr. McDonald. Today I received an avalanche of the below responses from one address. Did anybody else who had reached out to Monte get these? I just want my MFC's! :costumed-smiley-007

Autoreply...

Thanks for your order email or order.

If this email is regarding a question I'll get back to you in a day or so.

Thanks!
