Got a couple PM's, thanks guys, I'll be back around my parts tomorrow and I'll PM you back. Just a note, the caps are all olive drab in color with a red strap, that the only color I have available, sorry for the confusion.

These cap assemblies can be easily disassmebled if you are looking to scavenge parts from one in order to repair another.

Earlier this year I bought a dozen auctioned from a Canadian on eBay. Try a "Scepter gasket" search and see if any pop up on auction.

The gaskets from the old style Blitz cans have slightly larger ID and OD dimensions than the Scepter gasket, but I remember thinking at the time that with a bit of minor trimming they could be substituted in a pinch. I think Blitz gaskets are still readily available in the U.S.A. I don’t know what material is used (Viton, cheap rubber????), but they seem to hold up well against gas in the Blitz cans.

Thanks CJCA but i havent found anything on ebay yet. And to top it off i was checking my cans earlier today to check what gaskets i have and they are rubber.

One of my lids is damaged as well with the seals ID 'lip" being torn away. Cant seem to find a reasonably priced cap anywhere.. one on ebay for $54.. wont spend that for a lid only.

If anyone has another source i'd appreciate the lead.

I've got a question, I had a buddy in Canada procure & send me some yellow straps to convert my gas designation to diesel... popped off the red straps and now cant get the yellow to pop into the cap - is there a trick to this or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks Jim, he's the guy i emailed (Allied) and received no reply. Maybe he is/was away again?

I think i'll just mail in payment, that seems to be the preferred method.

If anyone can hook me up with one cap i'd be eternally gratefull.

Can anyone answer how to get the straps back on the cap once its swapped out?

Place the cap over a block of wood, place the strap over the hole it pops into and ********** with a light hammer or deadblow. Make sure you are supporting the flange from the bottom or you can/will crack it!
