Scored a free gun!

My dad finally tired of his quest to get me to trade my stainless 7.5" barrelled Redhawk .44 for his pre-ban Beretta 92. He's going to give it to me since he hasn't even taken it out in years, much less shoot it. The only challenge is how to get it from NV to TX without paying an arm and a leg. I'm flying to Vegas in December, so will likely have to buy an FAA-approved gun case.

Any hints on how to make that a safe trip for my new toy? I'm VERY worried about American losing it, as they've lost my luggage two of the last three times I've flown.

Thanks DH. Why would that be preferred over having it fly back with me? I've seen plenty of lost mail, probably more than lost luggage. Elaborate, please.

It's insured for declared value!
