Seat Covers...

Can anyone recommend some nice affordable seat covers. It seems like i just saw some on here the other day, but after searching i can't find anything.

I am looking for something basic, that slips on. Just to protect from dirt, not water or anthing. I would like to find a nice canvas cover with pocket in the rear. Also some simple colors would be nice.

Thanks.

Cabelas also sells some affordable types. I have hed very good luck with thier saddle blanket types over the last 12 yrs. When I sold my 89, took off the old covers and seats looked like new. That was after 10 yrs in AZ sun. They are a bit scratchy though, something to consider.

I have recently been dealing with www.seatcovers.net and am having a little difficulty getting semi-custom covers made to fit my seats. Apparently they do not have a pattern for my seat and i am about to return covers for the second time.

They seem to be willing to make me happy, which is why i'll recommend them at this time.

Can't you just throw that indian pattern blanket over the bench seat? Your pickup does have a proper bench seat, doesn't it?

I've used various covers over the years. On my S10 it was synthetic fleace, until they wore out. On the RAV4 I had trouble finding auto-parts store covers that fit; finally found a 2 piece version at Canadian Tire that fits well. On the Element, I'm using inexpensive cushions, rather than full covers. The cushion makes the seat more comfortable, by giving my shoulders more room to flex.

At one time I also bought a waterproof nylon cover that stores it its own pouch. It is stored in a bin on the RAV4, in case I ever get real wet or dirty and need to protect a seat. There are also a variety of seat covers sold to protect seats from wet dogs.

There's an Hawiian firm, Wet Oke (sp?) that sells neoprene covers, either custom or semi-custom.

Wet Okole, which means "wet ******" in Hawaiian. I've been meaning to get a set of these and probably should for the trooper. These are the real deal if you are looking for a neoprene seat cover (which you are not, but other people reading the thread might be). They are perfect for protecting your seat from a wet ****** (hence the name), like when you get out of a lake or creek with a soaked wet suit. However, being neoprene, they work like a wet suit and I have heard that they are not a very good combination for open top Jeeps left out in the rain as they will trap a layer of water between the cover and the seat. I have also been told that all colors except for the grey fade over time -- i.e. your black and red seats become grey and pink over about four years.

So back to the topic at hand, do the canvas covers have any sort of water repellent quality to them? I want something soft and breathable, but that will keep water out of the seat fabric.

I had black and gray Wet Okles in my first Tacoma- they lasted a good while before the driver's side finally tore where you slide over it getting in and out. They said they could repair it but then the truck got totaled (seat covers ruined) so I never did send them in. I might buy a set for the new Taco at some point.

Inexpensive, off-the-shelf covers are made from a stretchy material that gives a reasonably smooth fit on a variety of seat shapes and sizes. A well fitting cover in a heavy duty cloth ('canvas') probably requires a custom size for each model's seats.

If you want something that is both waterproof/resistant and breathable, you are talking about a more expensive fabric, even though Goretex is no longer the only option.

It may be worth exploring fabrics using on boats, and maybe have custom set made by a marine upholstery shop.

This brand is really awesome. I had the Endura (waterproof) material ones for my Tacoma and I loved them. Very durable and good fit too. The Endura fabric is like Cordura?sp which they make backpacks and other stuff out of.

These are not expensive but they are moderately priced at around $140 per row. I felt very comfortable with this purchase as the fit was good and product was durable. I have never thought twice about recommending them.

Avoid seatcovers.net. They advertise universal,semi-custom and custom seat covers in many materials for many different vehicles.

I just received my set for the third time...i offered to pay more just to get a seat cover that fits decent. This third set is the worst fitting of all sets i received....they sent me a universal set no doubt. They are too wide and do not follow the shape of the seatback...they are square. The length is much too long also.

I have attempted to help this company (as they obviously dont have an accurate template) to send my factory covers off my seats so they can measure and copy the shape. I received a sarcastic reply that they DO NOT do upholstery work.

In all fairness i ordered these seatcovers because my bud also bought a set and they are a nice product.... and his fit well on his Wrangler YJ.

  I just want what they advertise and what i thought i was paying for. Am i asking too much?
