My wife has been working non stop for the last few weeks. She was busy before Christmas and slammed after words. I told her you are taking this Sunday off.
We left just as the sun was rising in Prescott. A quick stop at Dutch Brothers and off we went. Max speed..... 55MPH. I had Sammy Hagars song "I can't drive........55!" running in my head except it was "I can only drive........... 55! Oh well. We took the back route into Sedon on Highway 89A. Took a little over an hour and is a very Scenic drive. We stopped and had breakfast in Jerome. We were in no hurry. We made it into Sedona and talked to a few people at the gas station as we were picking up some snacks and water. Sedona is a great town tucked away in some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Broken Arrow Trail is right in the middle of that Beauty! This is a bucket list trail.
We drove to the trail head and proceeded to lock in the hubs and disconnect the swayer. I left the tires aired up at 75 PSI. We then hit the trail. About an 1/8th of a mile in, is a huge granite slab with ledges and channels that drop 3 feet into the surface of the granite. Up above were some rock buggies just hanging out talking. They eyed the Campulance and out came the cameras. Im sure they didn't think we would make it up. The Campulance walked right up as if going for a walk in the park. I discovered the front axle does have a limited slip after all. The rear locker never skipped a beat either. As I passed them they gave us thumbs up.
We continued on the trail to Submarine Rock. We pulled over and took the mountain bike path down. The walk is maybe a 1/8th of a mile? Easy path and great beauty. We then climbed to the highest point on Submarine rock. Pictures were taken and out came the drone. I flew her around for a bit and took some great Vids. This is the place for some stunning views! I will link a YOUTUBE film of our trip in a few days here.
After Submarine Rock we drove the trail to Chicken Point. Of course its another great place for pictures. We met up with two guys we had been following the trail pretty much with the entire time. One of them took some pictures of us and our rig. Its nice to meet GOOD PEOPLE. This is what I love about our chosen way of life. One of the guys was a photographer. He sent us the pictures he took. LOVE THE INTERNET! I will post those after I write this.
After Chicken Point we drove over to The Devil's Staircase. One of the Pink Jeep Tour Guides told me my rig wouldn't be able to make it down..... LOL. "We have tons of pictures of vehicles that have met there demise on Devils Staircase" he said to me. I chuckled and said ok. Devils Staircase was no issue. My truck is more capable than there little Pink Jeeps.
The trail is about 4 miles in length or so. Takes about 4 hours if you hike the trails and talk with people. The weather was perfect and so was my company. Love my wife. After the trail we stopped at Vino Di Sedona for some wine and great flat bread pizza. We listened to a live band and just relaxed. What a perfect day out with the wife. She deserved it.
