We have them all over here, but not seen a 2 door yet, mostly the pickup version, a few 4 doors both civilian and military.

I went to a dealer in Oman last year to buy one but they basicly refused as I'm an individual and not a company...ie you should by this leather loaded version over here as i get more commision !

a month after I bought my Patrol the guy phoned me up with a cancelled order - bugger

Locally they do diesel and petrol but not a V8

V8's arround here don't work that well as the engine bay gets too hot while playing in the sand.

You'll often see the V8 LC's with bonnets up on the dunes in summer, but the 6 cylinders don't have the issue

freaky swosshy lines

all the rage in the middle east !

Don't the Diesel Varriants of this model (as in the later 70-series with the lack of the pointy hood) have teh twin-turbo V8 TD??? I thought that was the whole reason they changed the bonnet like that cause if they left the 1HZ in it then they could still have the pointy nose.

Oh yeah and just because I WANT AN HZJ75 TROUPY!!!!!!!!!!!! I WANT IT I WANT IT I WANT IT!!!!!!!!!! WAAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!! I WANT ONE NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The LC 71 series is described pretty well on the Toyota Colombia website:

The 1HZ was phased out in some countries because it couldnt comply with the new emmisions laws.
They decided to use the one body for all engines to keep it simple.
The 1HZ is probably much cheaper to produce and maintain in poor conditions and still has enough power to move along at a reasonable pace where roads are bad.
No 78 series got the twin turbo,it is reserved for the 200 series only.
The VDJ 78/79 are single turbo
