Sending directions to phone?

I have both google maps and apple maps. When in google maps on a PC I can plot my route to go where I what, pitstops etc...
But when I send the route to my phone it just reverts back to the fastest route.
How are all you plotting your trips then saving routes?
Is this possible with Google or Apple maps?
Honestly really haven't played around with apple maps much...

I haven't figured that out either. I usually just hit the destination on the map, add stops I want to see and add "stops" along the route to take me the way I want to go.

Not a 100% answer to your question, but when I take a long trip using Google Maps, In pre-planning I save each day's waypoints in a newly created 'list' with that date. Then at the start of the day, I just open that list for the day I am on and can easily select the waypoint in the order I want.

So it looks something like this

I plot on my phone, jump in my f150, phone connects to truck via Auto Android and pre-planned Google route shows on the trucks info screen.
I imagine iphones can do the same.
