http://jacksonville.craigslist.org/cto/4242830366.html This vehicle is local to me and appeals to me very much. I don't really know anything about Land Rovers so I have no idea if it is even a good deal or not. I like the fact that it has a diesel in it, but I don't know if these engines are reliable or not.
So if anyone knows something about these vehicles and has some info to share about them it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
John

Hmm, XMOD. Is that a 24V system I spy in the bay? Ad says so. The parts are available. The 2.25 Diesel will set NO speed records. Honestly that last one I rode in preferred a max of 45mph. Looks decent but at that price you could get a nice S2 109 for that, which is what I would look for. I prefer the 2.25 petrol over the diesel. Bit peppier and a bit more fun to drive IMHO. Parts overall are easier to find for civvy trucks.

Overall looks like it is in good condition. If you were closer to ATL, I'd volunteer to come out and take a look at it.

I get all complaining about 24V, but the reality is if you aren't going to be adding in a bunch of electrical crap, then its fine. If you do add in a winch, I've heard great things about 24V winches.

Parts are still available and there are a few write ups on 24V to 12V conversions.

The truck will be slow. Just FYI. However with the flat terrain out there on the coast, it shouldn't be that bad.

If you just want an around town truck and beach truck, should be fine. Do some rust prevention on the chassis, install free wheeling hubs (its ex-MOD so probably 24 spline outers, get some superwinch FWHs, can be had brand new, its what I run, they work great), get a set of noise canceling ear phones, pack up the womenfolk and hit the beaches!

It does have the desirable hand throttle. AKA cruise control. Oh and get some defender mirrors.

Down the road, look at getting a set of parabolic leaf springs (I run Rocky mountains, work great) and new seats. Those two things will help the ride out significantly.

All that truck needs is to be driven.

Looking at the orange lights on the wing tops, they are the same as those used by the Dutch military and the 2 1/4 diesel was specified by the Dutch also........the Brits military Rovers were always 2 1/4 petrol, so the engine is probably standard fitment and not a conversion...... looks a tidy truck.....expensive though......

Thanks for the replies. So far I get "slow and expensive". Was'nt really looking for a Land Rover, but thought it looked pretty cool though.:coffeedrink:

Thanks

In all honesty, $13k gets you into a decent Defender which will be better than a series anyday. Just saw a guy importing a number of them to michigan. Was asking $13k for a NA diesel 110 station wagon. It is RHD but with that truck, spend a few extra grand and dump a TDI in it. Then you are really scooting. It'll already have the 5 speed gearbox, the nice suspension, an interior, and a just be better.
