anyone interested in driving our limo to Timbuktu?

quick update from my friend Mark...

****

Hey everyone.

Well it turns out that shipping things on ships across the Atlantic is not like shipping things via FEDEX. At the port they take your stuff and it goes into a "system" which sorts, prioritizes, categorizes, loses, ignores, and delays your shipment - before it finally goes on a big boat, which has no particular departure date and no particular arrival date.

Net result is that the limo did not leave New Jersey in time to be unloaded in London before Christmas. This means we have pushed our SF departure back to January 7th, and will be travelling with a different group of the rally through Africa.

While this is a setback, fortunately Suna and I could both rework our work commitments to suit the new plan - sadly not so the other members of the team. And then there were two....

So - opportunities aboud. If you have interest in joining the limo tour through Europe from London to about Morocco, or portions thereof, drop me a line. We depart London Jan 8th, and we're in Morocco until about Jan 20.

Hope to catch up with those in SF over the next couple of weeks. Happy Holidays to all !

What a great vehicle to do the Rally in! Good luck, first with the UK traffic . If you make it round the M25, you're in good shape!

We did it a couple of years ago, and had a blast.

Looking forward to seeing photos of the Lincoln stuck in the desert, oops I mean making light work driving on the sand!

Good luck!
Nick.

well, a quick update on the Limo rally - it's ON!

My friend Mark, his girlfriend Suna and a couple more friends are now in Madrid with the limo! They are on their way down to Morocco.

There is still some hesitation about crossing into Mauritania with the recent incidents (Rally Dakar cancelled) but they will decide once they get in Marakkesh.

I don't have new pictures yet but you can follow the blog here:
